La instalación HIF Matagorda eFuels está realizando actualmente la ingeniería con Bechtel, Siemens Energy y Topsoe y está diseñada para producir aproximadamente 300.000 toneladas métricas anuales ("mtpa") de hidrógeno verde y aproximadamente 1,4 millones de mtpa de eMetanol. La planta HIF Matagorda eFuels prevé adquirir aproximadamente 2 millones de toneladas métricas anuales de dióxido de carbono reciclado ("CO2") para su conversión en etanol y 2.000 megavatios de energía renovable.

Idemitsu ha manifestado su satisfacción por trabajar con HIF en la negociación de un acuerdo de compraventa de eMethanol y estudiar el desarrollo conjunto del negocio del eMethanol. A principios de este año, HIF Global e Idemitsu Kosan firmaron un MoU para acelerar la producción de eFuels.
